Her story

The chair became the church.

Niki has spent years with other women's hands in hers. A nail appointment is two hours of undivided attention, and somewhere between the soak-off and the top coat, people tell the truth. They talk about their marriages, their money, their kids, their diagnoses, and the things they have never said out loud. Her chair became a place where women got honest, got prayed for, and got put back together.

What most of those clients did not know is that she was carrying her own weight the whole time. She was surviving her own seasons while she helped other people survive theirs. This book is the first time she has told her side of the conversation.

Why they call her "Doctor"

Nobody gave her the title. Her clients did. They started calling her Doctor because they walked in broken and walked out repaired, and not just the nails. The name stuck, and Dr. Phat became the woman people book when they need their hands done and their head right.

Faith

Her faith is not decorative. It is the reason she is still standing. She talks about God the way you talk about somebody who showed up when nobody else did, honestly and without a script. She will tell you what she prayed, what she doubted, and what He did anyway.

Motherhood

Everything she built, she built as a mother. That means she has worked through exhaustion, guilt, and seasons where love had to look like discipline instead of comfort. Her children are the reason she refused to let the hardest chapters be the last ones.

Why she wrote the book

Because too many women think they are the only one. She wrote it for the woman who is functioning beautifully in public and falling apart in private, the one who thinks her damage disqualifies her. She wants her to see the whole process, not just the finished set, and know that a rebuild is still a win.

Professional bio

Niki, known professionally as Dr. Phat, is a licensed nail technician, author, speaker, and mother. Over years behind the chair she built a client base that comes for the nails and stays for the honesty, earning her the nickname her clients gave her. She writes and speaks on faith, mental health, recovery, motherhood, and rebuilding a life after loss. Her first book, I Nailed It. Period., releases July 25, 2026, and uses the steps of a nail appointment as the frame for a memoir about what has to be removed before anything new can be built. She is available for speaking engagements, book signings, interviews, women's events, church events, and nail-industry gatherings.
